Frà'Golino
Strawberry grape fermented beverage. The Strawberry grape became part of the history of viticulture in Europe in the late 1800s.
In 1979 a European regulation banned its cultivation and enjoined the elimination of the plots where it is grown because strawberry grapes are not part of the "Vitis Vinifera" or wine vine, but of the "Vitis Labrusca" which is simply considered fruit no more or less than: peaches, plums, cherries etc...
In this case what results from the alcoholic fermentation of that fruit cannot be called WINE, but simply "Strawberry Grape Fermented Beverage." It was common practice for sweet FRAGOLINO to be produced at the family level by blocking the fermentation with methods that were orthodox to say the least. We harvest grapes that are already overripe and then dried in small crates concentrating the sugars considerably so that the fermentation carried out to the end can give a product of 15° alcohol content and considerable residual sugar.
It is recommended to be enjoyed chilled paired with cream or lemon ice cream, or as an aperitif by mixing it with a good white or enjoyed alone.
